Barbara Schafer is a highly experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a special focus on the care of seniors.

With over 15 years of experience working in a community setting, Barbara has developed a deep understanding of seniors' unique needs and challenges in their day-to-day lives. Her commitment to providing quality care and improving the lives of her patients has made her an invaluable member of the Canada Homecare Group team.

Barbara's nursing career began in northern communities in Nunavut and the Yukon. She worked for several years before returning to Edmonton to complete her NP master’s in nursing (Geriatrics) at the University of Alberta. Her experience working with diverse cultures and communities has helped her develop a deep understanding of the importance of cultural competence and sensitivity when providing healthcare services.

Throughout her 31-year nursing career, Barbara has demonstrated a strong commitment to providing compassionate care and building lasting relationships with her patients. She is a skilled communicator who takes the time to listen to her patients and understand their unique needs and concerns. Barbara is known for putting patients at ease and providing them with the support and reassurance they need to feel comfortable and confident in their care.

Barbara enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time with her family and friends in her free time. She is also an avid reader and enjoys learning about new topics related to healthcare and nursing.
